London Borough of Redbridge - Talent Development Programme

Live performance, arts and culture play an important role in the many communities of Redbridge. To recognise and support the talent that exists in the borough, London Borough of Redbridge has launched a new live performance development programme.

Are you a musician, living in Redbridge or the neighbouring boroughs of Barking & Dagenham, Newham, Waltham Forest or Havering who would like to develop your skills and play at great locations and events across the borough?
Then we want to hear from you!

Working in partnership with Busk in London, London Borough of Redbridge want to develop a talent pool of local musicians who will play at a range of established events and new regular busking locations throughout the year.

If selected to join the Redbridge talent pool, you will have the opportunity to be part of exclusive performance opportunities and gigs, with the chance to join the main Busk in London talent roster.  Redbridge gigs will be stripped right back with a grassroots vibe, no big stage or fancy equipment – just you and your music.

Applications are open to performers who are resident in Redbridge and neighbouring boroughs, aged 14 years and up, with an easy-listening musical style suited to a wide audience, from classical to country, folk to pop and plenty in between.

All acts need to be completely portable; your equipment must be battery powered and you must be able to perform in a stripped back, lo-fi fashion.

Check out this video below from Busk in London performer, John Clapper, that shows you how it's done!

Performers selected to take part in the Redbridge Talent Development programme must be available to attend a pre-performance season, coaching and industry day on 13 August 2022 at the Kenneth Moore Theatre.

This will be a free, full-day event where you will get personalised top tips during a vocal and performance skills coaching session, learn about physical and vocal health for performers, learn how to get the best from your equipment and put those burning music business questions you have always wanted to ask to our panel of industry experts at a Q&A session.

We ask that applications are made online.  If for any reason, be that access, resource or disability, you are unable to submit an application online, we are offering a limited number of places at a Live Audition Day to be held in the Borough.  Please email Kate@Foundinmusic.com to apply for a live audition.  Please note, we will still require all information requested in the online application form (excluding the video link) to be submitted.

Live auditions will take place on Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 May (4-7pm) at the Exchange Shopping Centre Loft.

All performers applying for the Redbridge Talent Development programme will also be considered for the InIlford Platinum Jubilee Celebration event on Saturday 4 June.  For more information about this event, please visit inIlford Platinum Jubilee Celebration Competition | InIlford.  If you do not want to be considered for this event, please check the opt out box on the application form.

London Borough of Redbridge is committed to diversity & inclusion and creating a welcoming environment for all musicians. We want our performers to be representative of the communities we perform in and welcome applications from all sections of society.

We particularly encourage applications from disabled, Black, Asian and minority ethnic and female musicians as these groups are currently under-represented in the music industry. If you are a disabled musician and have any questions about access, please contact Kate Jones, Programme Director, Busk in London on kate@foundinmusic.com
