TfL Licensed Busking scheme

TfL is opening up auditions for its Licensed Busking Scheme.
We have over 40 pitches across our network, at stations on the Underground, Overground and Elizabeth Line.
Currently, over 200 people are licensed to perform as buskers, and we are looking to add to those numbers.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Musicians aged 18 and above who are resident in the UK and have the right to work in the UK.  Performers who are accepted onto the scheme are required to demonstrate proof of public liability insurance and hold a current a basic Disclosure and Barring Service check

  • Individual musicians, rather than groups

  • All types of genres – classical, jazz, world music, pop, R&B

  • A diverse group of buskers that reflect the culture and vibrancy of London

  • Musicians who can perform without plugging in to mains (e.g. using a battery-powered amp, or performing acoustically)

  • Musicians who can thrive in the Underground environment, delighting customers while ensuring that stations can continue to operate safely

HOW AUDITIONS WORK:

  • Buskers submit their audition form along with a link to a video performance of two songs.  Videos should show you performing in a stripped back busking style rather than a glossy music video. These do not need to be professionally shot - use a phone or ask a friend.

  • Please note - if any information is missing or video links do not work, then your application will be disqualified, so double check before you click submit!

  • These will be vetted on a rolling basis, with shortlisted buskers invited to attend an in-person audition in an Underground station in February 2023

  • Those invited for an in-person audition will be asked to fill out a more detailed questionnaire, including a list of ten songs that could potentially be performed during an audition.

  • Those who are successful in those auditions will be notified in March 2023.

  • All buskers accepted onto the scheme must agree to the terms and conditions of the busking scheme, and present proof of the right to work in the UK, PLI, as well as their DBS check.

  • Please note that a DBS check can be obtained via https://www.gov.uk/request-copy-criminal-record The service costs £18.
